I've been considering a Europe/MidEast trip for a few weeks now, but have been pondering turning it into my first RTW trip, using a combination of Avios, AAdvantage Miles (USA to Europe) and Delta SkyMiles (South Asia back to USA).
From what I understand, AirBerlin used to fly non-stop from Berlin and Munich to Phuket, Thailand, however since they were bought by Eithad Airways based in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E., it seems that all their flights connect through Abu Dhabi now. Since Eithad flights are supposedly codeshared with AirBerlin from Dhabi to Phuket, is it still possible to book that flight with Avios?
Or alternatively, I could use 22,500 AAdvantage Miles (assuming the rate doesn't go up with the merger!!) from the Middle East (either from Amman or Abu Dhabi to Phuket) to S'East Asia according to the OneWorld chart, which kills both SkyMiles and Star Alliance's award charts.
