American Eagle Flight 8110 ORD to IAH aboard Canadair CRJ. Several checked bags offloaded due to "weight restrictions". Based on discussions with airline personnel, this particular route often uses the small (CRJ) plane and this has led to frequent offloading of checked passenger bags.
Personally, I would rather the airlines notify me upfront of the 'overloading condition' and pull both me and the bag from the flight. I do not like to be surprised upon arrival when I go to reclaim my bag, especially due to prescription medicines I typically place in a checked bag.
Passengers on the plane at the terminal before take-off were informed by the pilot over the speaker that the delay was due to last minute taking on of luggage. No mention of luggage removal...
Probably not coincidental, with such a full plane (three empty seats) and apparently full cargo bay, that the landing at IAH was so notably rough. A particularly rough flight on the ears as well...12 hours later I still cannot hear out of one ear. Plane ended up landing 20 minutes early.
I am a frequent flyer on business. No more American Eagle for me.
