How Do You Respond to Equipment Change?

AC substituted E90 for A320 for my >4hr trip in July. There was as usual no notification. I saw it when I did a check on my schedule. Called AC to ask for a later latter flight in A320. The gentleman grumpily (gentlemen vs ladies response at call centers is a topic for another thread) told me I must pay for the swap. He asserted that I paid to be transported from A to B and that is what they are doing. I told him that I absolutely hate traveling J in E90 and made my flight selection to avoid the equipment. I requested a conversation with the Supervisor. Was told he was he had gone home. Waited till 1100 when he was supposed to call back. Nothing. Called the Centre again. This time a lady answered (God bless them) and quickly changed the flight without charge and better still, no hassle, no questions. How do you respond to equipment change? Do you agree that your agreement with AC is all about transportation to a destination or does it include the aircraft type?
