Trying to figure out my strategy for 2015. Currently stand at about 59,000 miles. I have two definite trips booked in the next two weeks which will give me another 8,000 miles. I have planned a Christmas trip to California which should be worth another 5,200 miles or so. That leaves me about 2,500 - 2,700 short for the rest of the year to reach Plat.
Just to make things more complicated, the chances of my continuing to maintain Plat in, say 2016, are probably less than 30% as I was the recipient of a lot of windfall trips owing to other folks in my office scheduling conflicts.
For 2014, I was considering a quickie mileage run simply to ensure I'm over the hump, but have to weigh a few issues.
Does anyone think that Plat will exist under the merged AA regime? In other words, am I going to be Plat for five or six months to only have it merged back into Gold?
In the interim, is there a substantial benefit to hitting Plat over Gold (other than the one day of extra upgrading)?
