As per title, this afternoon I flew LHR-HEL with AY, booked in Y.
When boarding I got the magic BEEP and got bumped up into J...it never ever happened to me before on a BA flight, not sure why.
Other strange thing was that Y had quite a lot of free seats after boarding was completed so I am really not sure why they upgraded me upon boarding. Probably someone missed a connection? Not so sure about that. I went to the rear restrooms and I counted more than 10 free seats in Y.
Finally for the first time I went to the CX First Lounge at T3 and I found a very nice surprise inside there: they got Veuve Clicquot, my favourite Champagne.
Overall, I think AY J product is much better than the BA one.
Some observations:
- Female CC in J wears leather gloves which I really like a lot
- CC always had a smile for everyone, which on BA is getting very rare.
- food is much better
- drinks are much better
- there were only 5 of us in J and we had 2 CC full time
- they always called me by last name which again never happened to me on BA
- I was given a personal connection update which on BA never happened before
- we were on time, which lately is very unfrequent when flying BA
- we had hot towels which quite a few times are forgotten by BA CC (even on long haul)
I wish I could always fly AY. Seriously.
