We booked two FC saver tickets to Spain for next spring. The routing is less than ideal as we go to LGA and then out from EWR to LHR. From there it is on to BCN. The TALT portion is on BA and has high fees.
There are non-stop flights from several US gateways to BCN. We were told if seats open we can change at no charge even if this means flying over on a different day. We would like to go a day later and return a day later. Also if we can get AA or US metal we could save about $600 in fees per ticket.
So we are trying to change first to a non-stop, second to a US or AA metal flight and third to move the date either going or returning or both.
QUESTION: Can all or any of this be done without paying change fees? What if to get preferred flights and dates we downgrade to Business?
