Hey guys. Just wanted to share my experience on this flight.
Sadly, the only positive aspects were the friendly, hard working cabin crew and the fact we arrived about 20 minutes ahead of schedule.
Summary of amenities and services:
Amenities
- standard transcon duvet and pillow placed at each seat
- new AA headsets (pretty much identical to the old ones they sell in Y for $5 but now they are white, making them look a bit nicer)
- WIFI constantly failed so inflight entertainment was awful since the personal units are no longer provided as they were in the past
- no menus
- well at least we got a newer 24F configuration domestic 757!
Services
- light breakfast (for transcon standards that is): choice of french toast (looked ok but tasted awful) or cheese omelete (which was quite decent), both came with the new tiny fruit platter and choice of biscuit or sweet bun... I couldn't eat more than a couple bites of my french toast, and to the cabin crew's credit, they realized I wasn't eating and offered me the omelete
- no tray linens
- standard snack basket was passed several times by the friendly crew, though none of the items were that great
- no freshly baked cookies
In sum, AA appears to be treating this 5+ hour flight as a standard domestic flight with breakfast service. It is sad to see what once was an outstanding product decay so rapidly. Next time, I'm flying VX even if I have to drive to FLL.
