my daughter's boyfriend is booked to take DL87 tomorrow to DTW (and on to MCO on DL 2512) to join us for a family vacation. Per flightradar24 this flight utilizes the incoming JFK-FRA plane of DL 106, which returned to the gate tonight after being 6th or so for takeoff. Now DL106 has departed again with about two hours delay, however with that flight arriving after DL87's departure time it is pretty clear that he will miss his connection to Orlando as he had only a 1:45 layover there.
Based on the delay he might be eligible to a EU261/04 compensation - unless DL106 was delayed due to exceptional circumstances. So does anybody know why DL106 went back to the gate? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
