I have four TAP flights coming up (LIS to Azores return; LIS to Venice return). I will be star alliance gold by the time of the flights (just about to fall back). I am used to flying around Asia in Cathay as a Marco Polo Diamond (for those who don't know, this involves pretty much every rule being waived and lots of preferential treatment). What should I know to prepare for these flights? I have read the various horror stories below, but if any frequent travellers have any tips, would be much appreciated. The plan is to go hand-luggage only on all sectors (with a 40l backpack and a small personal item). I think the backpack is technically a few cm over their size limit, but not much.
