Schedule Changed, Long Transit

Hi, wondering if I could seek some advice? I've searched but haven't found a similar scenario (I'm sure there's plenty, but can't for the life of my find any examples!).

We're flying DXB HEL RVN in economy on Dec 6th. The DXB-HEL sector has been extended in time, meaning we'll not make the connection to AY531 HEL - RVN. We've been put on AY533 that arrives 4h45 later than originally ticketed. I spoke to one agent to enquire about changing the routing to KTT (suits us a little better and is a shorter connection), but that was a no. They offered me to depart on the 7th as it had a shorter connection to RVN but I declined as it would reduce our holiday by a day. However, I called back 10 mins later to enquire about returning a day later, but the agent I spoke to said he couldn't help as our flight has been cancelled and rebooked, and that's why we'd been put on AY533. AY531 is still selling on finnair.com, but there's no way we could make it from the DXB flight as that would leave a connection time of 5 minutes.

So, what to do in this scenario? Are we eligible for EU261? I'm all a bit confused!
