Very mixed feelings about this property.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest rate and received 1 King Studio Suite.

How are the rooms?
Around 32sqm large.
Quite pleasant design.

Well equipped kitchen.

Bedroom with comfortable bed, armchair and desk.

Bathroom with bathtub/shower combo.

Dove toiletries.

Flat screen television set with only national selection channels, including different HBO channels.
No Chromecast.

Coffee machine (no espresso).
Usb and power sockets next to the bed and desk.

Noisy air conditioning unit (still working despite on off mode).

No free PressReader

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?
GOOD
- The interior design of the room is quite pleasant and in perfect condition
- Free shuttle service

BAD
- The hotel has very poor soundproofing, which is disturbing for an airport hotel. I turned down the first room, which overlooked a road: because there was no double glazing, the noise in the room was very annoying.
- The bedroom window overlooks a powerful street lamp: impossible to sleep with the curtains open.
- The air conditioning is very noisy, and continues to run when you turn it off.
- The service is minimal: the staff could work in a prison, so far removed are they from the basic standards of the hospitality industry (just transactional, with no smile or empathy).
- The shuttle driver is preoccupied with only one thing: his tip, and he looks at you in amazement when you tell him you don't have any cash on you.
- The hotel is quite close to the airport, but it takes a while to get there by shuttle bus, which has a small capacity.
- The hotel is in hotel zone zone where all the brands are present. But there's nothing else for lunch. The hotel has a mini-shop, but only with junk food.

Value for $ or IHG One Rewards Club? Would you return?
It was my first stay in at a Candlewood property.
I can't say I was impressed.

Although the room has an interesting design, the low level of soundproofing and the very mediocre quality of service make me hardly want to go back to this type of property, even if the rate is low.

I'm always amazed at the poor quality of service in non-premium hotels in the United States: the staff have no training in hotel management and are obviously on the move without any management to ensure a minimum level of quality.

I hadn't realised that a Candlewood didn't offer breakfast.
