Looking to book a stopover in Qatar. However Qatar airways 'stopover package' is waaaay more expensive. Lets say for example, 3500
If I booked 'manual' tickets using multicity it's significantly cheaper. For example:
Ticket 1 - Departure City -> Doha
Ticket 2 - (3 days later) Doha -> Arrival City
Total is only 3000.
Then book with Discover Qatar website directly instead of with the airline, hotel will be <100
However something I am unsure about when reading Discover Qatar terms is if this counts as a valid ticket to get the hotel? I am not sure if it is a single ticket, at even though the ticket would be done as part of the same booking, I am explicitly choosing two different multicity flight tickets in and out of doha manually instead of using a 'stopover'.
Has anyone done this before?
(Also even if it doesn't count, I think it will still be cheaper to get manual flights in and out then a hotel on it's own without the stopover package. What's with that, isn't the airlines stopover package supposed to be the 'the worlds best value stopover'??)
If it was possible to get a stopover ticket WITHOUT the hotel then add the hotel myself, I would also like to do that. But I can't see a way to forcibly have a layover more than 24 hours without getting a hotel package.
Also I did email Discover Qatar to ask about it but I felt like the answer they gave me was generic and I don't feel confident in the answer.
