Hi: I booked a ticket for two people directly with SAS on Feb. 1st. The flight is not until June. The routing is CPH-JFK and BOS-CPH.
I did receive the confirmation including our selected seats being confirmed.
Periodically, I have been checking if all is OK. Today, I discovered that my partners seat disappeared and it appears that this passenger does not any seat selected. I still have the seat I selected. I have Skyteam Elite status, my partner has none. Both passengers are on the same reservation.
A long talk to SAS help line today the agent says that only one seat was paid for. Strange, I say. I booked the ticket for the amount the system asked, after selecting the seats for both of us. On the conformation, it says SEATS: $ 0, so I assumed this is a benefit of being Skyteam Elite, just like with DL, AF or KL. The agent confirmed that both passengers on the same reservation should be getting the seat for free. Or perhaps not. She always took ten minutes to double check everything and then returned clueless, only kept apologizing.
I never received any alert about seat being removed or a request to pay for the seat which had not been paid for. This to me is very strange and certainly not a very good first experience with SAS.
The agent does not know what happened, and cannot even choose any seat on her end. This is exactly a situation I wanted to avoid and I am ending up not motivated at all to book with SAS ever again.
