Booked on next Friday's LGA-OMA AA flight to my usual appointment to hear Warren Buffett speak every May on the economy etc. Bought my ticket in F months in advance and have my CX Diamond card number in the booking. Easy to make the booking, impossible to retrieve it online. I call the AA phone number and they explain that there's "a technical problem" but that they can see the reservation and all is fine. Tickets are currently selling at around USD 7,000 a ticket to be in Omaha before the Buffett show. Would I be right to think that I've most likely been bumped off my AA domestic flight because it's oversold and AA's elites who want a ticket trump CX elites? Or is there really a technical issue that prevents bookings being accessed by the passenger but AA can see them and everything genuinely is fine. If I have been bumped, it would be good to know so that I can cancel my inbound connecting HKG-JFK flight and get a refund (I'd rather go to the meeting of course).
