My oldest credit history is from a Chase Freedom account (was originally AAA but was discontinued and given a Freedom card) from around 2007 as an authorized user on my dad's account.
I want to have direct control of this account since my dad does not use it anymore so that I can manage the rewards. We are planning to turn my authorized user in this account into a joint account, and then my dad will remove his name from the account so that I am the only user. Doing this will make me the primary user and no longer an authorized user, but it will be for the same account.
If we do this, will my credit history still be from 2007 when I was an authorized user and continue to exist? Or will my credit history for this account have to start new and fresh from the day I was made a joint account user and the authorized user history starting from 2007 will end when I am no longer an authorized user?
As you can see, I'm trying to find a way to continue my oldest account.
Thanks!
