Do you add passport info, etc. @ online check in?

Hello all,

Taking my first flight on LATAM (USA - SCL) in a few days and can't seem to find where to add passport and all required stuff. I used Alaska Mileage Plan miles and don't have a LATAM account but have the trip saved and can see it under my trips in the LATAM app. The only other post I found was in 2018 and it said to add it at OLCI but just want to make sure that is still accurate please.

Also, pretty just want to make sure there is no way to pre select non-special meals?

Thank you!

LOT App - Am I missing the point?

Is it just me, or the tickets purchased at lot.com do not show up in the LO app? My MM number is registered both in the app and in the ticket ... Is this what you experience too?

Also, I think the BPs stored in the app are static. They seem not to be updated if there are schedule or seat changes (delays, upgrades, reconfig etc)

Fast Track - How long to update to Gold status

Signed up for Qantas Fast Track requiring 100SCs before April to upgrade to Gold. Did my 100SCs last Saturday and till today the status is still Bronze. The 100SCs have been credited to my account and can see it correctly in the App.

In the Fast Track FAQ it says 2 business days to upgrade.

Anyone knows how long it can take for the status to update? Or any other advice?

Thanks in advance.

AS1304 delays today

Well this is a new one for me. Flying AS1304 that was delayed due to weather but AS claims late inbound aircraft, then as they try to start pushback the engines don’t start and they have to bring external generator. First generator breaks so they need to bring a second one over but Alaska ground crew has to do shift change. So now it’s over an hour delay with no ETA. Sadly calling AS and they claim flight had departed so nothing they can do. Doesn’t feel very good sitting at the gate but AS thinks we are in route.

Is this lack of updates becoming more common with Alaska this year? Never had them think a plane was departed while it was still stuck at the gate before.

Hawaiian/ Alaska Booking Surprise

I booked a roundtrip on Hawaiian between SEA and OGG. The outbound flight was on HA, and the return flight was on Alaska, booked through Hawaiian.

I wanted the HA Extra Comfort and Alaska Premium seats, but the Alaska leg only allowed main cabin seating, with all the premium stuff X-ed out.
According to the Chat Rep, you can't upgrade Alaska if you booked through Hawaiian, and had to wait until you arrived at the airport to change it.

The same is probably true if you booked on Alaska and got a leg on Hawaiian. You would have a hard time upgrading to Extra Comfort on HA.

Needless to say, I went to Hawaiian and rebooked that leg on to a Hawaiian flight and got the Extra Comfort seat. Unfortunately, the Hawaiian flight leaves earlier, so it is a morning rush to get to the airport.
This required a call to HA Customer Service and couldn't be done online.

This kind of stuff should have been smoothed out near the beginning of acquisition because it leaves a bad taste with your customers.

Protection on separate itineraries

Hi all -

I currently have an (unchangeable) transatlantic itinerary Italy-FRA-USA with a departure first thing. Booked in paid business but cannot change. I will now need to fly in the day/night before from Paris for this itinerary. In an ideal world, I would spend the full day prior to this flight in Paris. Ideal flight to connect into this itinerary is an ITA Airways flight. I'm wondering if that flight were to get cancelled, is Lufthansa generally reasonable / able to help here (e.g., would they likely be willing to re-ticket that Italy-FRA-USA flight to CDG-FRA-USA in case of ITA Airways irrops now that ITA is LH Group)?

Edited to add: this is for July. Realize that ITA is only barely getting integrated in at moment so may be tough to get a good answer

Thanks

Suites to SYD vs Summer in Hokkaido

I know it is a weird question, but I think there are enough AvGeeks (and definitely a lot of frequent travelers) in this message board that may have some input to my dilemma. I have some vacation (5-6 days) in July, and I cannot pick between flying to Hokkaido (not flying SQ, but instead BR), or flying Suites to SYD.

I'm flying around Asia that month, and I have 5 days or so that is still unaccounted for. I'll be in MNL during that time. From MNL, the return ticket is about USD5,600, with Suites on only one of the legs. (If it were just business roundtrip all the way, it is about USD2.6k). Never been to SYD and I know it will be winter that time which I would not mind.

Alternative option is to fly to CTS via TPE on BR, and this would save me a LOT of money, because even a business ticket is about USD1.8K. I have been to Japan many times but never been to Hokkaido. (I could not care about snow because there is plenty during winter where I come from. LOL)

I am an AvGeek and have been on the A380 several times, but not on SQ and not in Suites. The draw for me is the unique layout. However, I do have ET's Residence on my bucket list, which I do see is an even more upscale version of SQ's.

The price of $2.6k roundtrip in business to SYD seems a good price, but the main draw requires me to come up with another $3K (to be in Suites)! Not sure if I should just go see Hokkaido and save my money for the Residence later?

I would like to hear from people who have flown in Suites, as well as those who have traveled to both Australia and Japan.

1st time family of 3 Paris trip with Hyatt question

Good evening all,
As the title suggests, my family, wife, 18 yr old daughter at the time of travel, and I are planning a trip to Paris as part of a bigger European trip in July 2026. We have never been to Europe and as you might expect, it is a bit overwhelming. I will muddle through planning most of the other parts but I need some help from you experts on the different Hyatt hotels and my options for booking my family, particulariy because there are three of us. From what I read on here and elsewhere, it is pretty common in Europe for only double occupancy in standard rooms unlike here in the states. Obviously we have three in my family and I am just trying to figure out realistic options for getting my family all in one room on points or if I would need two rooms. I have browsed Hyatts site and explored the four (i think) main hotels in the heart of Paris. From this forum, I see most prefer Park Hyatt or Hotel du Lourve over the others. We would like to stay 2-3 nights in Paris. I am newer to the points game but have accumulated a good stash of points and this trip will be our first points booking so I dont really know from experience how all this works in real life.

1.) Which hotels would be able to accommodate us all in one room, if any? Ive read some people bend the occupancy rules a bit, but thats probably not a good idea I assume.
2.) I dont think rollaway beds are a thing at any of these hotels right?
3.) Obviously I could book two rooms if available try to get connecting? Are these requests granted usually if for families? I see online you cannot book two rooms on points at one time, so would I need to call that in so I can guarantee both rooms get booked?
4.) From what Ive read, I think Hyatt is bookable on points 13 months in advance. Is there a typically time when the most points bookings are available...IE Should I look 13 months out for the best chance to find something like may work for my family?
5.) Are suites that would accommodate us 3 even be bookable with points? Maybe Ive seen this on one of the hotel sites where you have to use points plus cash....maybe..lol

Sorry for so many questions but I want to get this right.. This trip is to celebrate our only childs high school graduation and last "family" trip before she goes off to college and my wife has "trusted" me with getting it right...you married men out there know the pressure in that statement...lol

Thank you in advance!!

Redemption, 354 days or 355 days?

Evening all. Apologies in advance if this is obviously my misunderstanding and/or I'm just missing something. Other half and I currently 'poised' to book avios seats on a 'popular' long haul route at midnight (by calling US call centre) as we have the outbound already booked. My simple math tells me that today +355 days should mean that today (23 March 2025), 13 March 2026 is available and at midnight therefore, 14 March (our desired return date) becomes available. However upon searching for various short/long haul routes on ba.com and looking at seat spy, I see that in fact only 12 March 2026 is currently available and that then makes me think that in 1.5 hours (ish), 13 March will be available.
But that is 354 days in advance.
Am I missing something?!
TIA

Manila to Milan round trip on Gulf Air in business class all lie flat, all aisle access on the long leg 787's. Dates through July, price range from $1260 to $1390, wish I could find a way to use it. I actually quite liked my experiences flying with Gulf air in their businessclass product.

Tyrol between Prague and Vienna?

$

I have 4 days in between Prague and Vienna in late October. I was planning on Cesky Krumlov for 2 days then Hallstatt / St. Gilgen area for 2 days, then train to Vienna. However, I also want to use some Hilton FNCs at a nice property if it makes sense. I see there's a SLH hotel Das Posthotel in Zell am Ziller. Am considering that instead of Hallstatt.

A few questions:
1. is Zell am Ziller a nice area for hiking and scenery?
2. Is late October a good time to go? Any fall color? We don't mind cooler temperature.
3. What would be the recommended public transportation from CK to Ziller and Ziller to Vienna?

Looks like it's a significant detour vs Hallstatt. Do you think it's worth it for 2 days? I could also possibly forego CK to spend more time in Tyrol (or somewhere else with a nice Hilton). The SLH in Salzburg looks unworthy of an unlimited FNC.

Lastly, I don't have to force the Hilton FNC, only if it makes sense.

Web/App Upgrade Millage Ticket

I've noticed lately that on 3-cabin flights I book with miles in economy the in-app/ web upgrade is only offering premium economy for cash upgrade and is saying unavailable for business. Does anybody else see this? Curious if there is a 1 cabin upgrade restriction for millage tickets or if its just been the flights I've been on lately.

New United Club Base vs Premium Memberships

People are reporting updated Chase United Club Card T&Cs which reference a new United Club “Base” membership which is now the included membership with the cards. The Base memberships allow access to UCs only. Also mentioned is a new “Premium” membership which includes access to Star Alliance partner lounges. There is evidently an upgrade option for cardholders.

Also, the value of the Base Membership is now quoted as being up to $750.

I have a flight booked on miles (Economy Flex Plus) with a 20h stopover in Dubai, then onwards to BCN.

There is a chance I need to stay in Dubai for an extra night, but I will only know after using the first segment.

Will it be possible to change the onwards flight after having used the first segment?

Unaccompanied minor questions

My granddaughter (11 yo) is flying to SeaTac arriving Saturday morning ,3/29. I will be picking her up and as I understand it, will need an escort pass to meet her at the gate. Will I be able to use Pre-check or CLEAR to pass security? Given that it is spring break for many, I'm a little concerned about long lines at the Alaska counters and security.

Any suggestions or recent experiences?

They said supper was dead. I asked on here and was told that supper and brunch were not on the Singapore flight anyway so don't worry.

Emmmm

well I have just got on board and can report that on a 14 hour route supper is alive and well.

I am frankly not a happy bunny. A decent meal is part of the experience.

supper lives on.
