I am planning a trip to South Africa on Emirates for a group of 7 people. We will be flying in business class so we should have lounge access during the 8 hour layover in Dubai. Is it worth spending a few hours sightseeing at night? Aside from the Burj Khalifa tour, I dont have any idea what we can hope to do. How safe are the luggage lockers at the airport for leaving carryon bags? Is the Metro an easy option for traveling into town at night?

- Do I get the run of all the OW lounges in LHR?
- I know I wont get lounge access at HEL when transiting to TLL as that flight is Y only. I have priority pass: which of the Aspire lounges (gates 13 or 27) would you recommend? Or are they much of a muchness?
- Will I get access to the non-Schengen AY business lounge at HEL on the way home?

AA Platinum bringing family of four into Flagship Lounge
Hi all! I am an AA Platinum, and will be bringing my family on an international trip soon. I know access policies for Flagship Lounges is that a status member can only bring one guest with them. My question is if I can bring one member of my family in as my guest, they spend some time in the lounge, then I leave with them and take another member of my family in. This way every member of my family would have a turn in the lounge without theoretically violating access policies. Is this allowed? Or is this method restricted? Thanks!

Anyone else having issues booking any Wyndham property on points for more than two people? Been about a week where it seems 'go free' rooms disappear when you go from 2 to 3 people. Spirit Airline's DTW hangar Foam Fiasco
At the time of the event, the hangar housed an A321 and A320 aircraft as well as 3 aircraft on the ramp. Besides the large mess that took the WCAA fire and rescue the better part of the rest of the day to hose down, the foam causes a large risk to the aircraft involved. In most cases the chemicals used in the foam fire retardant are very corrosive and can lead to extensive down time for the aircraft that were involved while they are inspected and repaired from the foam not only getting on them but in the cabin and making its way into electrical bays as well as into engines and bleed components.
Completed in 2017 at a cost of 32 million dollars, Spirits 126,000 sq ft Detroit metro hangar is one of the airlines primary maintenance locations. Its original hangar in DTW was torn down in 2011. The airline uses this location for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, engine changes and other engine work, and cabin interior modifications on its Airbus A320 and 321 CEO and NEO aircraft.

I wanted to see if I can use Miles+Bonus to book LCA->ATH->BER
It shows as not available, but the 2 separate award flights LCA->ATH and ATH->BER seem available.
Any risk in booking the 2 flights separately? Provided I have enough time between the 2 flights and I don't have any checked in baggage.

Bajra Boat Ride in Varanasi? Any Tips?

Im planning a trip to Varanasi during Dev Diwali 2025, and I came across these traditional wooden Bajra boats that are used for sunrise rides and Ganga Aarti.
Recently I explored a local boat service in Varanasi called Banaras Bhraman that offers sunrise bajra boat rides, Dev Diwali special boat rides and evening boat rides and many more services i got in very affordable prices - it was a peaceful, spiritual experience.
If anyone is planning for Dev Diwali in Varanasi, Id recommend looking for bajra boat booking. These wooden boats give you the real traditional feel compared to speed boats.

Lead time to board intercity trains from VIE
will be landing in VIE at 1010 by Austrian air (from ZRH) on a weekday in late Sept and intending to take the next RJX train to Linz direct.
Would the RJX train departing at 1102 too tight if I buy in advance with discounts or should I buy train tickets after landing, which costs more ? Plan to travel in first class for 2 adults.
Btw, what are good car rentals in Austria ? Looking to rent a car in Salzburg for 2 days.

Calling me a No Show
I am in Cabo San Lucas. I got via Expedia a relatively cheap hotel on the hill about 10 minutes walk from the downtown area.
I went to the hotel window on the first day, after a long walk from the bus station, and it was locked. Adjacent to the hotel is a fish market and they are affiliated with the hotel. They gave me the key said I could pay on the second day (out of 5) and I felt relieved.
Last night the clerk reminded me I needed to pay soon and I said fine, no problem. But in the morning (like the day before) I found no one in the little office by the exit, which is very typical here in the daytime and night. There were people in the fish market but they seemed busy and I don't know which of them are associated with the hotel.
Tonight I found out Expedia charged me for the room due to "No Show."(I haven't been avoiding them, if anything I have been the one looking for someone to be sitting in the little office so I can pay.) And I went to talk to the clerk who said his boss doesn't even consider me to be
here. So they might want me to pay them directly even though I paid Expedia, or force me to exit a day early. They are using the miscommunication between the fish market and the hotel as a weapon to make me look like I didn't check in properly even though I talked to the ladies in the fish market and they spoke on day one to the manager describing my visit of 5 days, which I heard them discussing by phone, and I keep looking for someone in the office so I can pay. What's the best way to tell them I already paid and that it is their lack of communication between fish market and hotel that led to this, not anything I did wrong. No way I am paying twice. My communication with Expedia is limited now that Skype is extinct but they usually have helped me out in the rate occasion something like this happens. Update: I got into Skype through Microsoft teams and called Expedia who said they did not and would not approve any charge due to "No Show" even though I read them through my charge from the bank. This is a strange one.

Does D1 meaningfully beat out UA or AA in any category?
Have flown DL almost exclusively over the past 4 years, meaning Ive done a handful of round trips to/from HND in D1.
Prior to COVID, I flew both UA Polaris and AA long-haul J many times, enough to get a sense of both the hard and soft product offerings on these carriers. And I have to say, unless AA and UA have both permanently degraded their business class offerings post-COVID, I dont see how D1 consistently beats them out in any category. There are also some consistent areas I find lacking in D1:
- Old equipment. The D1 suites will be competitive until the competition gets doors, but theyre OLD. The IFE monitor on my last flight had a messed up touch screen that caused my movies to constantly pause. And thats not even mentioning the non-suite seats marketed as D1
- Food volume and presentation are like Domestic First more often than not: salad and main all served at once, no bread basket or even warm bread, no linen on the plastic food tray. In fact, my last couple of D1 flights, the only real differences between the meal service and a domestic F meal were the warm nuts at the beginning, and the dessert being served separately at the end. Theyve even gotten rid of the navy blue doily thing for the warm nuts recently.
- Spotty service: Not always greeted by name, drink refills only offered incidental to moving the meal service forward, generally no above and beyond from D1 FAs
Is my read on D1 in line with others recent experiences? How do they compare today with UA and AA? I find it hard to believe that the product I describe above can continue to command a 20-70% premium over its direct competitors in the US. And I wonder how much further Deltas admittedly stellar branding will take it.

Pricing craziness when combining 2 RTs
I'm trying to get the following trip booked on BA
LHR-BOM-AMS-LHR
If I book as 2 separate RTs in Club it prices out at around £4200 +£350 (4550) non-refundable
If I book as it as one trip, I get to £6100 for the same 4 flights. Also non refundable
I would like the protection of the single PNR for the BOM-LHR-AMS leg, and the ability to through check bags, but not at these prices as I could then just buy a fully refundable LHR-AMS in economy and it still comes out cheaper.
Any tricks to get a reasonable price for a single booking?
Can one through check bags onto connecting flights on different PNRs?

hardship for expats at Thai banks
after Bangkok Bank recently shut down many bank accounts of expats, Kasikorn blocked yesterday just minutes before office closure for the weekend numerous accounts of expats.
access to the K Plus App was denied and as most people use the App for payments (QR code in restaurants or shops) or cash withdrawal at ATMs they are probably financially stranded during the weekend

KUL Self-transfer, no checked bags
Can I obtain a boarding pass at KUL airside? I'm landing 11:55pm on NH and departing QR the next morning. Both from the satellite terminal. Would be nice to stay at the airside hotel. No checked bags.
