No boarding pass, No seat

First, sorry, this has probably been asked here a number of times before. An American Eagle flight today apparently is fully booked, as I couldn't select a seat (all were shown as occupied) when I bought the ticket a few days ago, and when I attempted to get a boarding pass yesterday afternoon, I couldn't, I believe because all seats had already been selected by other passengers.

My questions,

1. Is it pretty unlikely they won't be able to get me on the flight?
2. Would I increase the probability I'll get on by showing up at the airport early?

Thanks for any thoughts. My final airport destination today is Columbia, Missouri, and I'm debating showing up at the airport a couple of hours earlier than usual, in order to re-book on a flight to Kansas City or St. Louis if they don't give me a seat on the flight to Columbia. This would entail 2 additional hours of driving time to get to where I'm ultimately going, but I want to make sure I don't miss a meeting tomorrow morning.
