First of all: this is incredibly minor and I am not complaining. I'm genuinely curious what happened.
I recently flew SLC-PHX. This was on an EMBRAER 175 (which is a 2+2 configuration in coach.) I had confirmed seats 14A and 14C (aisle/window) and had checked in for the flight. On the way to the airport I received a notification that my seats had been changed to 18A/18C. Same seats but 4 rows back. Not a big deal at all -- but why had this happened? I thought maybe a family wanted to be together in row 14? However, when I boarded the plane there was no reason that I could see that the people in 14A/14C would have needed to be closer to anyone else? There were no children nearby and nothing else that appeared noteworthy? I fly 4-5x per month and this was a new one to me. Thoughts?
