AM Amazon Card still Alive in Amazon after Card Closure

This AmEx Biz Amazon card was opened and linked to a Prime Amazon account. Had some issues. So we called AmEx and closed it. That was more than one year ago.

Whenever we tried to open a new AmEx Amazon card, we saw the old AmEx Amazon card still in Amazon account. We contacted both AmEx and Amazon many times. No one was able to break the link between AmEx and Amazon. So it is not possible to open a new card account since the old card is still alive in Amazon account. But AmEx stated clearly that this card has been closed. Amazon said this card has been removed as a payment method.

Not sure if anyone has had the same situation.
