RC (Atlantic) vs FI (Iceland Air) for Faroe islands

I'm thinking RC is better option in terms of faster flight, more likely to be able to land in borderline weather from what i've read. any input here?

also how much of a buffer should i give myself between Faroes -- Iceland and flight home to North America? Flights are in early August. Option is either 2 days or 9 hours.
