Layover with partner question

Flying RAK AMS SAN in May booked on KLM. RAK to AMS is on Transavia and AMS to SAN is KLM metal (Single Ticket). We have a 10 hour layover (overnight) at AMS and I was planning to grab a hotel room across the street.

Question: When we check our bags at RAK will they check THRU to SAN? My understanding was yes as I believe the policy is 24 hours max. However I talked with someone on the KLM chatbot and they said since its a partner airline the answer is NO. I reminded them I've flown hundreds of Delta to KLM, KLM to AF, etc flights where the bags always checked through. They then said I had to check with Transavia when we check in.

Claiming and re-checking bags will waste a LOT of my time I had planned to use for sleeping.
