I'm on UA188 on 5/1/25 and am getting a little rattled about two cancellations in a row. Seems flight was cancelled Sunday 4/27 for mechanical reasons but cancelled Mon 4/28 with the app just nothing "a disruption." Anyone have any insight into the 4/28 cancellation. Since we need to leave JNB the morning of 5/3 for safari, in cases like this would UA put us on other carriers either from EWR or JFK? Finally, since we're on refundable J tickets if forced to buy tickets on another carrier, but UA refund just the EWR-JNB leg and not cancel the JNB-EWR return? Getting a bit nervous. With Platinum status one would think I would be a bit more laid-back an experienced traveler, but definitely rattled.
