AC Star Alliance Award Ticket didn't make last segment

Hi,
I've ticketed one-way Business class Aeroplan award 87.5K miles routing BKK ZRH (LX) connecting ZRH EWR (UA)
I missed my last segment on UA (didn't made it to the bag drop cutoff time as I had 15 hours layover in ZRH)
UA ZRH Agent couldn't find any later flight on that day, so I bought a new ticket to fly back to EWR on a different carrier.

Can I still use the last segment for future travel?
